Letter: Another Omen For MacLean?

by MissionViejoDispatch.com on October 23, 2009

Lance MacLean and his supporters suffered a devastating setback on October 20, when top Orange Country Republicans showered the leader of his recall campaign with recognition for 20 years of community service, undercutting attacks on the character and integrity of activists seeking his ouster. (Connie Lee: Recall Leader Receives Official Honors)

Connie Lee was cited for her tireless work on Republican campaigns, organizing party and conservative events like the Apr. 15 Tea Party in Mission Viejo and for voter registration (including 324 registrations during the recall petition drive.

She received five awards—volunteer of the month for both the California Legislature and Republican Party of Orange County and special recognition from Congressman Gary Miller, State Sen. Mimi Walters, and County Supervisor Pat Bates. With Assemblyman Jeff Miller spearheading the legislative award, it was a clean sweep of locally elected officials honoring Connie.

The statewide GOP recognitions came on the heels of the October 15 resolution by the Saddleback Republican Assembly, the independent grassroots organization, supporting the recall as MacLean “employed deception” to receive the SRA’s endorsement of his 2002 election to the council. This undercuts his contention that he merely participated in majority votes on contending issues. The resolution also cites a physical altercation on the UCI campus. A very well deserved recognition for Connie, long overdue, not to forget the decade long airport/Great Park fight. Congrats to Connie!!
