Mission Viejo’s namesake and sister community in Colorado will close its library after voters rejected a ballot measure yesterday. The Mission Viejo Company created the Rocky Mountain town based on the success
of the OC planned community, even using some of the same street names. It is now part of the City of Aurora, which plans to close four libraries, including the Mission Viejo Branch, due to economic conditions and the Tuesday decision by voters against more taxes.
The economic crunch in California caused the MV, CA City Council to significantly cut the local library’s budget for the upcoming year, but the funds were later restored.
