Santa Claus will arrive in Mission Viejo Sunday in Civic Plaza at 6 pm aboard a fire engine. The MV Activities Committee is sponsoring a celebration festival beforehand from 3-6.
Game and activity booths will be set up in the plaza where children can do make-and-take items or build ornaments to decorate Santa’s workshop trees. Goodies will be available for purchase in Mrs. Claus’ Kitchen and Cafe.
The trombone ensemble, Bones West, will entertain on an outdoor stage from 3:15 to 4:30. The group was founded in 1980 by Hollywood studio bass-trombonist George Roberts and has performed at Carnegie Hall. At 5 pm other local bands will provide music until Santa arrives.
Visitors to the event are invited to bring wrapped toys for families of Mission Viejo’s adopted Marines. Canned food items are also needed.
Beginning Sunday children may also leave letters for Santa in the mailbox outside his Workshop. Santa will answer letters received by December 20. Kids can visit Santa in his Workshop on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 6-8 pm, Dec. 2 through December 20.
