Marine Minsky Recovers; Honored By Elks

Marine AlexMinsky-0915091   Lance  Corporal  Alex Minsky suffered brain damage when injured earlier this year by a roadside bomb during his tour in Afghanistan as a mortarman. The local Elks Lodge adopted the Marine, helping him financially while recovering from his wounds in the hospital. Alex was taken off the critical list in June. This Friday he and his mother, Jackie, will be dinner guests of the Lodge.

Alex’s mom earlier wrote to the Elks, saying, “Our family is very blessed. Alex’s recovery is nothing short of a miracle. I know that all the support and love we have received from the community, such as the Elks organization, has indeed helped our family through the past few months.”

“We are grateful that he has recovered sufficiently to be able to be our honored guest for dinner, especially during this holiday season,” said Lodge Exalted Ruler Jim Humphrey. “The Elks and other Americans will never be able to thank Alex and other veterans sufficiently for their service to our country.”

The Elks organization has a long standing support structure for veterans symbolized by its motto, “So long as there are veterans, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks will never forget them.”
