Regardless of how you feel about the recall, to put a guy who could be bounced out of office in 3 months as Mayor is stupidity on the highest level, and is just an embarrassment to the city. It makes you wonder if these 3 “leaders” are actually striving to make MV look like a Banana Republic. Its clear this was done for no reason other than out of spite, as zero good can come of the future headline, “MV Mayor Removed from Office.”

If it is stupid to install him as mayor when he would could be recalled in 3 months, its just as stupid to have a special election when a normal election is to be held also within months.
Actually Rob is wrong. There is one good thing that comes from this. When he [MacLean] is removed from office, it will make the three dumb ###es that put him there look incredibly stupid.
Keep in mind that the cost of the election will always be less than providing lifetime medical benefits for these three council members, who will be the only members past, present or future to ever receive this in Mission Viejo unless the recall is successful. And that’s only the tip of savings that the City may realize.
Is this any more stupid than spending thousands of dollars on a recall when his term is up in November?
