When MVHS alum Cameron Tringale graduated from Georgia Tech this year, he was rated the #3 collegiate player in the U.S. He qualified for the 2009 U.S. Open by placing 3rd in the regional qualifying tournament, and played on this year’s Walker Cup Team.
On Monday, Cameron earned the right to play on next year’s PGA Tour by placing 19th at the Qualifying School tournament, purported to be the toughest test in golf. Only the top 20 qualifiers earned their tour cards.
In a June article the Dispatch questioned whether he might follow in Mark O’Meara’s successful footsteps. Cameron considers O’Meara the greated alumnus of Diablo High. It looks like he’s off to a good fast start.
