Last week the City Council agreed to co-sponsor a New Orleans style jazz concert on March 14 from noon to 4 at the Murray Community Center. The event will be produced by Creative Arts Production Foundation, which has conducted the MV Fun With Chalk Festival for ten years.
The City’s involvement will include providing the $920 facility rental without charge and providing advertising in City publications. The jazz concert replaces plans by Creative Arts for an antique show on the same date.
The Side Street Strutters are scheduled to perform. The music will feature Dixieland, Blues and Zydeco jazz styles. Zydeco arose from the Louisiana Creoles, usually employing a button accordion and washboard.
Creative Arts, founded by Dr. Frank Lieberman, assists women and children who have suffered domestic abuse and violence, and childen who have been affected by Pervasive Developmental Disorders, such as Autism.
