Mission Viejo resident Kelly Reister died Sunday evening after losing control of her motorcycle on Ortega Highway.
CHP Officer Denise Quesada advised the Dispatch the 51-year-old Reister was a novice rider. A friend said she had been riding for a year or two. According to witnesses she was operating the bike conservatively at about 35 mph. As Reister approached a long curve, however, she lost control and the Harley left the road and struck a rock formation. Kelly was thrown from the bike and pronounced dead about 8 pm after being flown to Mission Hospital.
Kelly was the Sales and Marketing Director at Shur-lock Company where her outgoing personality was appreciated by co-workers and clients. She was close to her father who was out-of-town when the accident occurred. Kelly was single.

Such a shame. Rest in peace Kelly Reister. Twice now going over Ortega Highway in the last year I have come up to stopped traffic, literally stopped. Both times a motorcyle rider had died in a crash. I understand Ortega is beautiful, but I really think it is a dangerous road for motorcycle rider. It is too bad.
