On Monday the City Council will reject all bids received to install sixteen bleacher shades at little league fields located in four parks; Youth Athletic, Curtis, Beebe, and Gilleran. Staff was prepared to recommend Ortco, Inc. based on its experience and lowest bid, but a legal challenge was brought by the second lowest bidder, Fast Track Construction. The challenger noted the Ortco’s bid was based on a mathematical error, so the Council will authorize a new round of bidding.
In addition to the original (base) specifications, staff asked bidders for a second (alternate) quote to increase the height of the shades to create better visibility. Eighteen sets of specifications were sold, and the following nine bids were returned:

Hopefully this MacLean folly will get tossed along with him this Tuesday. There are so many more worthwhile things this city could use that money for.
