MV Bank Robber Reports To Jail

by MissionViejoDispatch.com on April 9, 2008

The Sheriff’s Department  tells  the  Mission  Viejo Dispatch an individual turned himself in today regarding the back-to-back robberies at the same Bank of America branch at Marguerite and Oso.  The two heists occurred within 24 hours of each other on Monday and Tuesday.

The suspect, Patrick Auther, is a 23-year-old Mission Viejo resident.  He yielded after friends saw his bank surveillance photos in the media and convinced him to contact authorities.  The photos were released by the FBI yesterday.

Laura Eimiller of the FBI tells the Dispatch that Auther contacted the FBI office which arranged to meet him this afternoon at the Central Jail in Santa Ana.   Bank robbery is a crime under federal law.  He will be arraigned in U.S. District Court tomorrow.

I was at the Bank of America branch this afternoon and observed that they had a security guard out posted out side the bank enjoying the sunshine and talking on his cell phone.
