Does anyone know what happens if the DA finds the people that started the recall did violate election law? What if they did use illegal methods to gather signatures, does that void the election?

If the state would have gotten their rosters straight, and gotten me my absentee ballot, and if I had not been in Arizona on February 2nd, helping my brother leave this state for good; you would have lost by 20 votes!

I’m sorry that our little city had to go through this recall process but Lance has brought this upon himself. I remember supporting Lance when he was first running for office in our city and what said he stood for. Within days of taking office he was backing off what he ran on and had no excusses when asked why. The old saying – what goes around comes around – is true. I hope Lance can try to reflect on this and the good he did do for the city and move on in his life in a positive way.

To Dave Leckness I wish him the best; I’ve known him for over 20 years. If I was going to give him any advice I would tell him to be careful of who he thinks his friends are. If they have any interest (political) now or in the past in this city they still may be on somebody’s payroll. I know that sounds somewhat paranoid for our little town but unfortunately when companies are bidding on million dollar contracts they will have there people trying to get to you. Once you accept that 1st favor they own you forever.

Kudos to Joe (Holtzman) for your very well-documented commentary. In addition, I have to say that my wife & I are extremely disappointed that Trish Kelley called us on at least 2 occasions prior to the election. (This was a pre-recorded message, wherein we were urged to vote ‘no recall’ with no opportunity for us to have the benefit of even a brief conversation with her.)

Though I have yet to attend any of the open M.V. City Council meetings, we are priveledged to have working in our office J.P. Ledesma, who called the outcome of this election about as closely as anyone who really knows this city as well as his fellow citizens. We sincerely hope that the new member will join in harmony with our respected colleague, J.P., in giving first priority to what is truly in the best interest of the rest of us who live in & dearly love
our City.

I just visited Dave at his Kwik Kopy print shop. We agree that the healing process has already commenced.

As to today’s Register Editorial on police services. What are they thinking? The City Council will terminate our OCSD contract and hire some 80 year old Pinkerton Detectives to protect our city? Let’s get past the “spin” and discover the real reason for the OCSD deputies union pouring in over $100,000 in this special recall election.

Lance “earned” his recall !!!

Now lets get down to some interesting facts.

MacLean had the financial backing/support of special interest that has never been seen in a local Mission Viejo election before.

When the final totals come in I believe MacLean’s supporters contributions will exceed approximately $147,000.

Examples of MacLean contributors (and supporters):

* The Association of Orange County Sheriff Deputies ponied up by my estimate over $105,000 dollars and most likely more.
* The Orange County Apartment Association kicked in over $4,000.
* CH2M Hill, a worldwide construction management and consulting firm.
* Committee for Improved Public Policy, a Costa Mesa based developer-funded Political Action Committee
* CR&R Inc., a trash hauler expected to bid on Mission Viejo’s upcoming $100 million trash contract
* Waste Management, a trash hauler expected to bid on Mission Viejo’s upcoming $100 million trash contract
* Judith Ware of Ware Disposal, a trash hauler expected to bid on Mission Viejo’s upcoming $100 million trash contract
* Designed to Win, Inc., a Santa Ana entity with unknown interests
* Kenneth Kachigian, Sr Partner of Brownstein-Hyatt-Farber-Schreck, a large litigation firm with 12 offices throughout U.S.
* Sharon Cody–former Mayor and DAWG leader

Teamed up against this massive amount of financial support were some concerned citizens of Mission Viejo, aware Mission Viejo taxpayers and alert citizens. My estimate is the FOR recall group–including Dale Tyler may have spent approximately only 20% of what the MacLean supporters spent.

What does this prove–”Justice and Virtue Ultimately Triumph !! ”

My predictions–Leckness will be more civil than Lance. Leckness just may open a council meeting with a five minute stand up comic routine; that will be certainly more entertaining than Lance’s diatribes.
