After qualifying for this week’s U.S. Open, MVHS alum Cameron Tringale, born here 21 years ago, has the potential to follow in the footsteps of fellow alum Mark O’Meara.  Tringale once stated golf pro O’Meara was the most famous graduate of Diablo High.

After serving as Mission’s golf captain for two years, leading the team to impressive performances, Cameron matriculated to Georgia Tech, a traditional powerhouse on the links.  Tringale graduates this year from GT and has been rated the 3rd best collegiate player in America.  He plans to enroll in PGA Tour Qualifying School this Fall.

Cameron qualified for the U.S. Open by placing 3rd two weeks ago in the sectional qualifying competition in Ballground, Georgia.  He will tee off in the Open at 9:01 am Thursday.

Tringale’s parents live in Laguna Niguel.
