Mission Viejo Recall

MacLean Gone; Kelley Mayor; Leckness Vice Mayor

February 16, 2010

Lance MacLean made his departing comments and left the dais last night as a result of his February 2 recall by Mission Viejo voters. He was replaced as mayor by Trish Kelley. Kelley, Ury and newly elected Dave Leckness again circumvented senior councilmember JP Ledesma who was overdue for the position of mayor. Leckness was selected Mayor Pro [...]

Letter: Pre-Teen Understood MacLean Recall

February 8, 2010

I do not believe we wasted taxpayers money on this recall. The cost of the recall is equal to just one year of the lifetime health benefits Lance voted for him and his co-workers after only 12 years of part-time service. I think the cost of keeping silent and doing nothing is much greater. The [...]

February 5, 2010

The numbers tell a story of their own: 47,203 Mission Viejo [non]voters are living out their lives unaware of what is going on at City Hall. These are the people who MacLean, Ury, Kelley and the city manager desperately count on. 7,351 Mission Viejo voters watched the TV advertisements on Fox & CNN and believed [...]

In addition to “lies, exaggerations, mischaracterizations and cheating,” Lance MacLean has added a new reason for his defeat in the recall election.    The San Francisco Chronicle, in an AP report, wrote: “MacLean says the recall effort “stole” the election because it was a special election with a low turnout.”    With the Police [...]

Letter: Lance To Blame; Luck To Leckness

February 5, 2010

I’m sorry that our little city had to go through this recall process but Lance has brought this upon himself. I remember supporting Lance when he was first running for office in our city and what he said he stood for. Within days of taking office he was backing off what he ran on and [...]
