Gloria Nord (1922-2009)

  Mission Viejo resident Gloria Nord gave a command ice skating performance for Queen Elizabeth II In 1953.  Nord was a theatrical skating star in her day. She was a popular pin-up for GI’s during World War II after appearing with Betty Grable in the 1944 movie, Pin-Up Girl. Her beauty and popularity were featured in The Saturday Evening Post, Look, NY Sunday News, and many other media.

   Nord died on December 30 in Mission Viejo where she had retired. She was 87. Memorial Services will be at Presbyterian Church of the Master at 2 p.m. On Saturday, Feb. 13th.
